Covenant University Bioinformatics Research (CUBRe) was formed in October 2011 from the bioinformatics research group at the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Covenant University, Nigeria consisting of faculty/graduate students and staff from the departments of Computer and Information Science (CIS), Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Department of Mathematics, Computer System and Information Services (CSIS) and the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Abuja, Nigeria. It was established in 2012 with Prof. Ezekiel Adebiyi serving as its founding Head & pioneer Project Director/Principal Investigator. He handed over to Prof. Jelili Oyelade in 2022 who is the current Head & Principal Investigator.
CUBRe Mandate:
To harness interdisciplinary expertise in bioinformatics research, leveraging technology and collaboration to address pressing health challenges, advance personalized medicine, and contribute innovative solutions to global healthcare.
CUBRe aspires to achieve global recognition as a hub for groundbreaking bioinformatics research, contributing significantly to advancements in healthcare and biotechnology.
